tenebrae:

Tenebrae Choir

In 2001, Jacques became involved as a patron of a new classical music choir. They are called 'Tenebrae' (which means 'shadows' in Latin) and they nearly always perform their concerts by candlelight.

Jacques became friends with the director of the choir, Nigel Short, when he was living in Villars, and they could often be seen skiing together or writing music at his piano. Tenebrae is now an internationally recognized top professional choir with 5 CDs already to its name. The choir is in demand around the world to perform at classical music festivals and concert series and some of its members have sung at the 24hour ski race on a few occasions.

Other than Jacques, Damon Hill, Ralph Fiennes, Craig Pollock are amongst some of well-known concert-goers who have seen Tenebrae live.

Lady Valerie Solti (who also lives in Villars and is the widow of the famous conductor Sir Georg Solti) and famous singer James Bowman are the choir's other patrons.
